June Newsletter

i thank GodI have a few important things to tell you as we approach the summer.  This will be my last newsletter as the Women’s Ministry Coordinator.  I have been beyond blessed to have served in this position for the past two few years. It was not a position I sought after, but when asked by our Pastor to serve, I was humbled and honored to do so. At this time I take hold of Ecclesiastes 3:1 as it reminds me that “there is a time for everything,  and a season for every activity under the heavens.” This has been a wonderful season serving you, but I am also in a season of raising my children.   I have felt the Lord speaking to my heart that it is time to step down and focus on the special needs of my family during this season. Moving forward I will continue to be apart of the great work of our Sister to Sister Ministry but just in a different capacity.

Our Sister to Sister Ministry has consistently seen over 150 ladies involved in Bible studies all around our community from year to year.  We held very successful IF:GATHERINGs and had some wonderful events.  Through it all, I have been blessed to see how God has worked in the lives of so many of you.  What a privilege to have had a front row seat for it all. God is so good and I hope you know, that serving with and for you will be a memory I will cherish always.
It makes it easier to step down knowing that our Sister to Sister Team is in great hands. As our Pastor makes the decision on who will step in as Coordinator for our Ministry at large, our Ministry Teams are already in very capable hands.  Our FAITH team is led by Shellynne Wucher.  Our GRACE team is led by Staci Towns and our Special Events team is led by  Katie Cox.  These three leaders, along with their teams, will work together to be certain that the ladies of FBC Pflugerville will still have opportunities to study God’s word, be active in our community and have events that encourage and build up our ladies.  I am confident in their abilities and look forward to what God will do thru them.
This summer we will have an opportunity for you to study the “Armor of God” with our GRACE Fellowship small groups.  These groups meet in the evening at homes in our community.  If you are interested in registering for this study please go HERE .  We will not be having another study as we did not have enough interest.  We look forward to resuming our on campus FAITH studies in the Fall.  If you are looking for some other study options, LifeWay Women has lots video led studies available online, go HERE for more information.
Please be sure to continue with the scripture writing plans.  They can be so meaningful.  This month there are two to chose from.  The topics are “Forgiveness” and “Who I am in Christ.”  Both will be worth the ten minutes it takes to do.  If you have not done this before, this summer is  great time to begin.  Follow this LINK to the plans.
Lastly, I want to thank you for your encouragement.  Many of you have sent me notes and texts over the years to say you are praying for me.  You will never know what that has meant to me.  I have felt your love and friendship and for that I am eternally grateful.
May God bless you and continue to bless the Sister to Sister Ministry of FBC Pflugerville.
Serving Him,
Lana Howell

April News

Happy April!  What a wonderful beginning to such a special month.  As I watched the wildflowers bloom and the trees bud last month, I’m reminded again that God continually makes things new again, offering a chance to start again new and fresh each and everyday.  What was once drab and colorless is bright and brings hope for a better day.  I hope that you can find encouragement in that today.

Easter weekend will be a time for family and reflection at our church. On the evening of  Good Friday, April 14th,  we will have a service filled with wonderful music to usher you into the presence of the Lord.  Then, Saturday beginning  at 9:30am, is the EGGSTRAVAGANZA for families with children.  Finally, our weekend finishes as we celebrate Jesus’ Resurrection on Easter morning, April 16th.  I hope to you will come worship with us at First Baptist Church Pflugerville.

Our Spring Bible studies are coming to a close.  I have loved this season of study for our women.  I have personally been challenged to forget what lies behind and to continually strive for that which God has called me to do.  Laying it down for Him and serving others, in HIS name.  Praise God, I have far to go and I am thankful to be in the race with YOU, my sisters.

I would like to take a moment and thank those who have selflessly served in our Faith and Grace Bible study ministries.  These ladies have planned, opened their homes, studied tirelessly and helped present the word of God to women all around our community.  My heartfelt thanks goes to; Katie Cox (Grace Ministry Leader,) Tiffany Schweikhart, Terri Shellenberger, Susan Bell, Staci Towns, Debbie Walker, Eva Melton, Shellynne Wucher (Faith Minstry Leader,) Deborah Rogers, Carole McCarty, Beth Johnson,  Shelli Hankins, Kim Longino and Melody Downing.

We are looking forward and have not yet decided what is coming next.  Stay tuned for more information to come!

March Newsletter

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”  Joshua 1:9

Happy March!  I have just a few items for you.  I hope you are participating in one of our Bible studies.  I have heard great things about both.  I am so amazed at how many of you are faithful to study the Word of God and to make it a priority in your life.  What a difference it makes when we hide His truths in our heart.  He gives us strength when we are weak and discouraged and brings His truths to mind when we need them most.

If you are not already using the Scripture writing plans, please consider this 10 minute task.  I promise it will  become a grounding and meaningful time with Him.  This month’s verses are about Grace.  How wonderful!  grace-scripture-writing-plan-english

Februray 2017 Newsletter

I am still overflowing with thoughts and emotions from this past weekend.  We had about 70 ladies gather for IF:PFLUGERVILLE 2017jenny.  We were challenged and inspired.  Inspired not to do big grandiose things for the Kingdom, but to slow down and pour our lives in to each other.  To build community and find one person to decide to show up for; to give of ourselves selflessly and show them Jesus.  That’s it.  Show them Jesus, in small ways.  In your time, service and unconditional love.  We can do it ladies.  You touch one life.  Then they touch one life and it just continues.  What a blessing.

I am so very grateful for our Sister to Sister Team.  if2017aThey worked tirelessly to create a special place for us to be together.  My heartfelt thanks go to Shelli Hankins, Katie Cox, Shellynne Wucher, Kim Longino, Terri Shellenberger, Tiffany Schweikhart, Melody Downing, Susan Bell, Lori Walker, Deborah Rogers and  Carole McCarty.  These ladies help, not only with special events but our Bible Study ministry as well.  We are also extremely grateful for the assistance of Karen Small in our church office and to the Media team for keeping us going through the weekend.

“Entrusted- A  Study of 2nd Timothy” by Beth Moore                                                             this 6 week study begins the week of Feb. 12th

We were never meant to take this journey of faith alone or in secret. God has entrusted us with the great and mighty gift of the gospel, something too precious and life-giving to keep to ourselves.
In this 6-session Bible study, Beth will encourage you to guard what God has entrusted to you, further His kingdom by sharing Christ with others, and pour into future generations just as Paul once mentored Timothy. Because in this journey of joy and hardship, we need each other to stay the course and live a life of faithfulness.

Join us for this small group study that will meet in homes around our community. Please let us know what evening is good for you when you register.  You can register online HERE or come by our table on Sunday.
